Holy Matrimony

Marriage is a sacrament of the church. A couple desiring to solemnize their marriage in the church must seek an understanding of Christian marriage and intend to be active members of a Christian congregation.

Saint James requires that a pre-application be completed and that certain guidelines be fulfilled before a date is scheduled on the calendar. If you are planning to be married, please contact the parish office to have a pre-application sent to you preferably six months ahead of your intended date.

Several restrictions apply to weddings at Saint James, including but not limited to:

  • At least one of the persons being married must be a baptized Christian.
  • The couple must undergo premarital counseling, meeting several times with the rector, or another counselor the rector approves.
  • The parish rector and organist are the principals.
