Do you have a nursery?

Yes. Saint James has a wonderful nursery program. The nursery opens ten minutes before the 10:30 am service and remains open until noon. We believe that nursery care for parents and guardians who want to take part in the life of our church is essential. Saint James can also provide nursery care for special activities.

If I take my children to the nursery, may I go and get them for Holy Communion?

Yes. Most parents who place small children in the nursery go and get their children from the nursery for Holy Communion during the Offertory.

May small children join their parents for worship on Sundays?

Yes. Children are welcome to accompany their parents to worship. We do have nursery care available during services for infants and toddlers and “Children’s Church” for those older children. All children typically join their families for Holy Communion. However, parents are welcome to keep their children with them during the entire service.

What is the Worship Service like?

The Episcopal Church embraces the "beauty of Holiness" in our worship. We believe that God reveals God's self to us through Holy Scripture and through the sights and sounds of worship and life. Our worship service is designed to embrace this beauty through our active participation. It is a beautiful form of worship based on the ancient practices of our Christian faith.

In the Episcopal worship service, we are not merely spectators. Rather, we are challenged to take part by actively praising God both in our worship together, and in going out into the world to love and serve others in the name of Jesus.

As with anything new, a different worship style may seem foreign at first. However, the wonderful people of Saint James will guide you. We believe that you will find the worship service a beautiful, inspiring, and powerful way to praise God in Jesus Christ, Our Lord.

What should I wear?

You will find all manner of dress on any given Sunday at St. James. There are folks who wear more formal clothes (coat and tie for men and dresses for women) and many who favor the business casual style (khaki pants and a shirt button down or knit shirt, etc.).

Whatever you wear, we think you will find the congregation welcoming. It's not about clothing. We don’t really care what you wear (provided you wear clothes) as long as you come and worship God.

Where do I park?

We have two parking lots beside the church facing Church Street. We also have parking places along the sidewalk on Church Street. There is additional parking available behind the church adjacent to the General Morgan Inn.
